Book Cataloging Request Form Tips

Here’s a few tips to help you fill out the Book Cataloging Request Form, from the Cataloging Team:

1.  Author/Title: Use the information on the title page, not the cover. Include subtitles, illustrators, forewords, etc. There is no such thing as too much information here!

2.  Publication info: This is sometimes found on the title page, if not, it will be on the next page (called the verso).

3.  Page numbers: Look at the book and find the last numbered page (also include the last numbered roman numeral page if it exists, it is not necessary to count pages if there are no page numbers but please put down – 1 volume or unpaged)

4.  Book height:  The height of the book in centimeters is the important information here –we do not need the width unless it exceeds the height.

Other pro tips:  Always refer to the item in hand for all your information.  Please don’t skip fields-just type N/A for fields that do not apply.  Remember to include a price and use the highest possible price not a discounted price.

We appreciate all your hard work in filling out these forms! Getting records to you quickly is our top priority. We hope these tips help with the process. Please feel free to contact any of the cataloging team with questions.
